Merapi Without Pyroclastic Eruption

Yogyakarta, 17/11 (10:28 GMT) The observations made by BPPTK on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from at 00:00 to 6:00 am showed that up to now the eruption still ongoing at Merapi with high intensity. Recorded volcanic earthquake has occurred four times, twice tectonic earthquake and tremors streak. The emergence of hot clouds until 06:00 am this morning have not seen, but BPPTK still states that to this day Merapi status still remain AWAS with possible threat of hot clouds and lava.

Foggy weather continues to hang in the sky since the early days, adorned with brown colored smoke as high as 1 km which lean toward the west to the Northwest. BPPTK requested that the activities surrounding the river which channel tipped to Merapi being halted stop considering the possibility of flood caused by heavy rainfall lately.

The distance of mount Merapi eruption hazard for each area district had indeed reduced, but BNPB and BPPTK still ask that the community to remain at the available evacuation site.

Citizens are also encouraged to always follow the instructions given by the local government related evacuation scenario from the threat of Mount Merapi. Until today also reported that commercial flights at the Adi Sucipto airport still can not be done.
