Yogyakarta, 18/11 (9:09 pm) From the report of BPPTK, Friday morning, November 19, 2010 stating that the Mount Merapi remained in the AWAS status with decrease of Merapi’s activity intensity. Eruption still continues to happen, but until 06:00 am only one time volcanic earthquake happened, four avalanches and one tectonic earthquake with successive tremors. Yet the possibility threat of catastrophic hot clouds and lava still lurk Merapi.

Since early morning, peak of Merapi is shrouded by thin to thick fog, and rain also occurred with low to moderate intensity. Thick white colored Solfatara smoke with a height of 600 meters West-leaning observed from the Post Tempel and Ketep when a thin mist occured. Thin ash rains also occurred at 01:28 am on Ketep.

Deposition cold lava continues to be monitored in all the rivers that disgorge at the peak of Merapi, therefore BPPTK still urge that people immediately cancelled all activity in the flood plains which are disgorge in tip of Merapi considering the possibility of cold lava flood threat.
