Merapis’s Status Still AWAS


Yogyakarta, 18/11 (20:17 GMT) until 18:00 pm, as much as 45 volcanic earthquakes recorded in the Mount Merapi. Five times avalanches, one tectonic earthquake, one-time hot clouds and successive tremors are still observed this afternoon. Hence, BPPTK stated that the status of Merapi is still AWAS with possible threat of lava and hot clouds.

Grayish white colored solfatara smoke high smoke gray with height of 1500 and 250 meters which move toward southwest and west observed during the day. Foggy and cloudy weather shrouded Merapi’s tip until the day and light rain pouring down on Merapi on 15:02 pm

People are also encouraged to always follow the instructions given by the local government related to escape scenario from the danger of Mount Merapi and also lava flood may occur due to the high intensity of rain shower.
